Fundamentals of Automotive Diagnostics and Repair
The focus of this workshop is to create a project-based, hands on environment where students are provided authentic opportunities to gain knowledge and functional skills for all major systems of the automobile. Successful graduates be able to take entry level positions in the automotive industry, will be able to address everyday issues, conduct minor diagnostics and make general mechanical repairs to a variety of automobiles.
Today's public schools rely mostly on knowledge-based learning techniques. Unfortunately not all students respond to lectures and reading comprehension. Many students learn by doing and have difficulty with sheer memorization. Our founder struggled throughout his highschool and college career and found he had to make and constantly review flashcards inorder to achieve the memorization that came so easily to his peers!

After bootstrapping our first three sessions we are currently looking for different options with populations including home school, charter schools, veterans and others. Contact us if your interested in our becoming and automotive technician or know someone one who may be.
Session 1&2 – Shop safety and Vehicle Maintenance, proper operation of a lift, check engine lights (CEL) and other electronic control unit (ECU) warning lights, removing and installing tires, oil change, tire rotation, fluid change (transmissions and differentials), tune-ups (history on ignition systems), spark plugs, coils, caps, rotors, filters (engine air, fuel, and cabin).
Session 3&4 – Brakes and Basic electrical theory, basic ECU/M, audio, lights, sensors, alternator, battery, and charging systems. Brake repair and replacement (master cylinder, lines, calipers, pads, and rotors), tire mounting balancing, and basic tire repair.
Session 5&6 – Steering, suspension, and alignments (Field trip to alignment shop). Engines: 4-Cylinder (straight and boxer variations), inline 6-Cylinder, V6, and V8 configurations, diesel and gasoline.
Session 7&8 – Intake, fuel systems (carburetor, fuel Injection, and direct injection), and exhaust. Transmissions, transaxles, (automatic or manual), clutch, torque converters, driveline, CVD, driveshaft, full floating and semi floating differentials (Field trip to a differential shop to be included).
Session 9&10 – Cooling systems, heating and air conditioning and Power adders, turbos, superchargers, and nitrous oxide (No2)
Cost of tuition
AVS's 10 week Fundamentals class meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays totalling 20, 6 hour classes. The cost for each student is $2,500. With a small class size of 8-10 students will get all the individual attention they need. Class begins at 7:30am with knowledge based learning in a classroom setting followed by hands on experienced based learning with a break inbetween. Pick up time will be anywhere from 11:30am - 2:30 pm.
Expansion
We are collaborating with the Mount Carmel Veteran Service Center to epand their Service to Service program it train enlisted individuals for the automotive industry. Addtionally we are not only looking to Homeschool and private education however to DOE, DOC and DHS populations as well.

ASV’s 10 week curriculum currently educates teenagers and provides them a solid foundation to find their own place in our automotive society. This could lead to a lucrative career an amazing social outlet or way to save money in the future
